Kaupapa Tuku Iho
Kaupapa tuku iho are the values gifted to us by tūpuna Māori. They have survived the changing cultural environment of the last 200 years and remain prominent in the thinking of te kākano i ruia
mai i Rangiātea as taonga tuku iho over which te kākano are guaranteed tino rangatiratanga under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Te Hono has adopted ten kaupapa tuku iho that cover a wide range of the human experience.
These kaupapa provide the structure to which are attached activities, tikanga, appropriate for the expression of the kaupapa within the context of Te Hono. The embodiment of kaupapa-tikanga frameworks in all activities of Te Hono is a major advance on the role of inherited values in the life of this organisation.

- Manaakitanga - to encourage ourselves and our rōpū tuku iho to behave in ways that are mana enhancing to each other and to others;
- Rangatiratanga - to maintain and refine the tino rangatiratanga of ourselves and our rōpū tuku iho over our taonga tuku iho
- Whanaungatanga - to maintain relationships within te ao Māori and to develop associations with the potential to advance our claims;
- Kotahitanga - to facilitate collectivity amongst the parties of Te Hono ki Raukawa based on Raukawatanga, shared experiences and new initiatives that advance our many claims;
- Wairuatanga - to create opportunities for ourselves and our rōpū tuku iho to manage our relationships in ways that are uplifting and enriching;
- Ūkaipōtanga - to affirm the relationships between ourselves and our taonga tuku iho, including tūrangawaewae and continuing attachment to takiwā through ahi kaaroa
- Pūkengatanga - to advance amongst our people knowledge of their origins and experience, of whakatupu mātauranga and of the promotion of scholarship
- Kaitiakitanga - to encourage our people to share in the pleasure and importance of maintaining and protecting, while enjoying, our taonga tuku iho;
- Whakapapa - to explore and enhance the connections between our rōpū tuku iho and of others with mana whenua in the region;
