A hui with a rangatahi focus will be held by Ngāti Pareraukawa on the last weekend of August.
Organiser Kimo Winiata said this was an important opportunity for the hapū.
“We will discuss who we are, where we are headed and how we should operate as Ngāti Pareraukawa and as Ngāti Huia.”
“There will be a Q&A time where most if not all questions will be given an answer around kaupapa of the marae and of the hapū.”
These matters will be dealt with from the get-go when the hui starts on Saturday afternoon. Environmental matters (Te Pūtaiao) is an important topic for the hapū and a session on kaitiakitanga is set down for Sunday morning. Environmentalist Pataka Moore and others will be the facilitators of this session.
In addition, on the Sunday, the hui will welcome the other Ngāti Huia whānau/hapū, from throughout the Manawatū/Horowhenua area to Ngātokowaru.
“This is so we can have a get together as Te Ngare o Huia to build on our existing relationships between Pareraukawa and the rest of our Ngāti Huia clan. This hui is for all whānau who have an interest in reconnecting with the marae and learning more on who we are allowing us to play a role or contribute at the marae.”
